Our Story

Nathan Himes is the owner and artist behind Twisted Oak Fine Arts. He graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a BA in Fine Arts and has been creating artwork since 2008. Working as a pottery instructor, his students love him for his 'punny' jokes and popular Raku classes. Raised in Auburn, Nathan draws inspiration from the nature of the Pacific Northwest, especially trees. He also loves all things fantasy, especially Lord of the Rings. When he's not in the studio, Nathan enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids.

In his creations, Nathan strives to balance functionality with artistic form, often adding whimsical and unique elements. He embraces and reflects the unsymmetrical forms of nature in his work, adding personality and uniqueness to each and every piece. He particularly enjoys incorporating fantasy motifs—goblins, dwarves, elves, and other imaginative characters—into his functional pottery pieces.
